Guptas go for gold: Sue papers

NEWSWATCH: ENCA (and Mail & Guardian - on the receiving end) report the Guptas are suing M&G and Sunday Times for R500m; meanwhile, a senior air force officer (suspended), says Zuma was involved in Guptagate, reports Mail & Guardian.

  • ENCA.com: Guptas sue newspapers for R500-million... So the family reckons that the newspapers defamed it over their (the papers') reporting on the infamous landing of their (the family's) chartered aircraft at Waterkloof Air Force Base... And the family is demanding R500m.

Many people might reckon that that is rather steep; in any event expect to see the tale unfold detail by detail, claim by counter-claim,on ANN7 and in The New Age.

On the bright side (for the family, not the newspapers) if the Guptas win their case at least it will go some way towards paying for the intimate little gathering for the happy couple and a few friends at Sun City.

  • Mail & Guardian: Zuma was involved in Guptagate, says Anderson... So there we have it... According to Anderson's sworn affidavit (she was suspended from her job for the part she allegedly played in the unlawful landing of the Gupta's chartered jet at Waterkloof Air Force Base on 30 April) Jacob Zuma was involved in the Guptagate debacle and is the "Number One" referred to in media reports regarding the affair. Unsurprisingly, the Presidency has refuted the claim.

So who does one believe? Who are you going to believe?
