Media are invited to a press conference at 1pm on Friday, 5 March 2010, where FIFA secretary general Jérôme Valcke, organising committee CEO Danny Jordaan and representatives of both the South African police and those from the other 31 participating countries will be present. Some of these representatives will be available for one-on-one interviews following the press conference.
The conference follows the security plans workshop that will be held on 4-5 March at FIFA in Zurich. Police representatives and chiefs of security of the 32 participating national teams will come together with FIFA, the organising committee South Africa, representatives of the South African government and Interpol to exchange information and discuss in detail the security plans of the government for the event.
The South African national commissioner of police will also be present to provide an overview of plans for national security, protection of teams, referees and spectators during the World Cup.
