ZAMI brings home two UK PocketMedia Awards

Z-CARD® Africa, Middle East, India and Turkey (ZAMI) has done exceptionally well in the UK PocketMedia® Awards, bringing home two out of the six awards.

"This is the first time that other regions have been eligible to enter the UK PocketMedia® Awards. Winning two awards is thus a significant achievement for the ZAMI region," says John Davis, ZAMI's Managing Director.

The South African region, known locally as PocketMedia® Solutions, came out tops in the International PocketMedia® Award category with its client, African Bank, leading the poles with 310 votes.

African Bank designed and had a personalised PocketMedia® Solutions' mailer produced - a world first in terms of the direct mail PocketMedia® application - that embraces the extraordinary. It has a concertina-style inner that opens to provide its customers with various messages about the bank and how it can meet the needs of individuals at various stages of their life.

The mailer consists of a sealed Z-CARD® with a world-first zip strip which is pulled to reveal the contents of the Z-CARD®. Full duplex personalisation was done on the cover of each Z-CARD®, on 300gsm board, which is also a world-first in terms of PocketMedia® Solutions' applications.

"We were ecstatic to hear that we had won! As an in-house agency it is inspiring to know that we can compete against big agencies with bigger budgets on a creative level," says African Bank's Tammy McCrindle, Creative Manager.

The Marketers Association of Zimbabwe (MAZ) took top honours in the Best Use of PocketMedia® category with the Wheel Star Fold produced by ZAMI's Zimbabwe distributor, Nhume Marketing Communications.

MAZ had an all new PocketMedia® application - consisting of a wheel on the front cover and a Star Fold inner - produced to drive awareness of the Superbrand concept.

The Superbrand Brand of the Year is an international concept adopted by the Marketers Association of Zimbabwe in 2010 to create a level playing field in the branding landscape and to ensure that the best performing brands are celebrated and rewarded.

"We have already produced a number of innovative PocketMedia® applications for our clients this year, and we look forward to entering them into next year's awards," Davis concludes.
