Giant cellphone delivers Conceptualise promo for Mascom in Botswana
Issued by: C-Cubed Communications

This enormous cellphone, standing 1.6 metres high with an interface that lights up and a compelling ring tone, is the key interactive device in a game show developed by Conceptualise for Visa and Mascom in Botswana.

Conceptualise is South Africa's specialist developer and implementer of promotional competitions and games such as Carling Black Label's 'Payday For Life', MTN's 'Yello Fortune' and the MegaMillions game, a property that Coca-Cola has repeatedly licensed for use in South Africa Nigeria, Namibia and Angola.

Mascom is Botswana's largest cellular service provider. The objective of the Mascom/Visa promotion is to encourage airtime top up using the Mascom and Visa virtual recharge platform.

Essentially, hidden behind the buttons on the interactive device is cash prize of 125 000 Pula as well as several product prizes. Contestants are selected at random from those who have used their Visa cards to purchase Mascom top-up products.

The game works on the skins golf concept; that is, if the cash prize is not won, it is added to the prize money allocated to the next event. All-in-all, there are eight shows - if the money rolls over seven times, the contestant in the 8th show could win 1-million Pula.

Says Conceptualise director, Jonathan Gordon: "This show has all the ingredients to generate a great deal of excitement - a lively interactive device, the opportunity to win really big cash prizes and the chance to do it on national television. The format - 'prize boxes' behind all the numbers on the phone as well as the '*' and '#' buttons - also enables us to offer jackpot prizes at will. We anticipate that it will prove very popular with consumers.

Conceptualise's responsibilities for the Mascom/Visa promotion included developing the concept; handling all production logistics, including set building, managing, assisting with the production and editing of events; interacting with the lotteries office and television station; prize management; and assisting with audit and adjudication procedures.

In addition to its game show business, Conceptualise is the leading producer of variable data card games, and provider of prize indemnity insurance. Headquartered in Cape Town with representation in Johannesburg, Lagos, Dublin and Sydney, it is also one of a select worldwide group of marketing services companies approved to carry Lloyds of London certification and indemnity.
