PG Bison has launched their brief for 2013. Penned by Architect Pat Henry of MDS Architecture, the brief asks that students design a retail store for a high-end international brand at the popular Johannesburg mall of Sandton City.
Each year the brief for the PG Bison 1.618 Competition challenges students to think 'outside-the-box' and create a design that is both functional and aspirational. 2013's brief is no different in that besides designing a retail space, students must also create a new brand and make an appropriate retail product selection. This brand choice needs to be relevant to the upmarket African consumer. Students have to incorporate an in-store electronic interface, a mezzanine level and a unique point of sale into their design.
The three key themes of the brief concern 'Adaptability', 'Sustainability', and 'Branding'. Entries will be judged against how these themes were incorporated into the students' designs. To read or download the full brief, go to: www.1sixoneeight.co.za/brief. The PG Bison 1.618 Competition and Awards have again received full accreditation from The South African Institute of Interior Design Professions (IID).
The prizes for 2013 are well-worth competing for. The winning student and their lecturer will go on an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2014 Furniture Fair in Milan, Italy, while the second place winner will win an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2014 Design Indaba in Cape Town. The winner also walks away with the highly coveted Steinhobel trophy.
What do we do? Event management, every project is coordinated and designed to meet the specific needs of each client. These needs are discussed and then outlined so that every person involved in each project is acutely aware of the desired outcome and can be assessed accordingly.- more....
