The Open Window School of Visual Communication will be presenting a BA Honours degree in Visual Communication at its new campus in Southdowns, Centurion in 2010. Graphic designers, illustrators, web designers, animators and filmmakers with a previous qualification are invited to take their knowledge and experience a notch higher.
The honours degree programme consists of:
- A practical component: projects done for the industry and projects of the student's own choice
- A theoretical component: Visual Culture, Business Practice and a dissertation.
- Fields of specialisation include graphic design, interactive media, illustration, video and animation.
The quality learning you have become accustomed to at The Open Window will take place through workshops, critiques and seminars. Evening seminars and consultation hours with expert study leaders will accommodate working students.
What can you expect from this postgraduate degree?
- It will provide an advanced conceptual understanding of and academic insight into an area of focus; a polished utilisation of technical skills; advanced problem-solving abilities and a sound understanding of professional practice.
- Students will engage in research and problem solving in order to promote professionalism in design practice.
- Students rehearse presentations and pitching on professional level to successfully communicate information and ideas.
- The honours programme will conclude with an exhibition of work using display methods to activate a space.
