Andrew Bloom joins Quirk Cape Town as ECD

Some may call him the 'Skittle Man', due to his extensive award-winning work on the brand, but to Quirk Cape Town, he'll be called, 'Executive Creative Director Man'. Andrew Bloom, who is currently a Creative Director at DDB Chicago, will soon be heading back home to South Africa to take over the "creative reins" from another globally recognised award-winning creative, Conn Bertish.
Since starting his tenure back in January 2013, Conn not only brought to life Quirk's mantra of 'Brave, Curious, Minds', he also helped bring in some top clients and creative talent, and of course, awards.

Quirk's MD, James Mckay, had this to say about bringing in Andrew into the family, "Quirk hired Mr Bloom to accelerate our quest to connect brands and people in a world wrapped in technology. He is one of those rare unicorns who is creatively talented and recognised on an international scale, technologically minded and business savvy. Andrew's vast experience creating high-end quality content for some of the world's premier brands will help Quirk take our product to the next level. Our clients will benefit from his hands-on approach to arriving at the best and most effective work. We're excited!"

Andrew believes future of advertising lies in digital, and he believes that Quirk are the ones leading the way, which is why he decided to join Africa's largest digital agency. "Globally and in South Africa, I've watched big ATL agencies struggle with the shift to digital and interactive, but what makes this opportunity such a great one, is that Quirk started in the digital space. So they're not treading into this murky digital pond whispering, 'what do I do now'? In the future, in my opinion there will be no media specific agencies. But the ones who can't learn the new mediums will die."

Andrew joined Quirk on 1 June 2015.
