43 in the SAB Innovation Awards

We are very proud to announce that Shalton Mothwa, one of the candidates from the 43 Challenge run by the SABS Design Institute, has been provisionally chosen as one of the Phase 3 finalists for the 2014 edition of the SAB Foundation Social Innovation Awards.
Shalton has entered his AEON Free Energy Remote Control, developed here with the guidance of the SABS Design Institute.

The Social Innovation Awards was launched in 2011, and is part of the SAB Foundation's primary focus to ignite a culture of entrepreneurship in South Africa as a source of economic growth, job creation and innovation.

The SAB Foundation Social Innovation Awards 2014 offers a first place grant of R1m, second place grant of R500,000 and third place R350,000.

In addition, several seed grants are awarded to deserving and stand-out innovations.
