Draftfcb Johannesburg was called to the podium twice last week at the Annual AdFocus Advertising Awards to accept two of the prestigious accolades made by this Financial Mail publication.
The agency, one of the largest and busiest in the country, was named as the country's Advertising Agency of the Year, in recognition of its business achievements and successes on behalf of clients during the 12 month period. It also shared the Partnership of the Year award with long-standing client, Toyota South Africa.
Managing director, Jerry Mpufane, was upbeat about the recognition saying that everyone at the Sandton office had worked exceptionally hard during the year to add value on all levels for its clients. At the same time, its creative output had improved in leaps and bounds. During the year, the agency had not only landed several prestigious new accounts - including Coca-Cola, it had also taken its largest client, Vodacom, through a complex rebranding exercise.
"Winning Agency of the Year is testament to the professionalism and dedication of all who walk our corridors; it's the alcohol-infused, chocolate-coated cherry on the top of a very exciting and challenging year," he said.
"We're also delighted to share the Partnership of the Year laurels with Toyota SA, a client with whom we've driven many, many miles over a record-breaking 50-year relationship. However, we'd like to use the award to pinpoint the start of a new journey. 50 years is a long time - but there are many more roads to travel, and we'd like to drive them with a brand and a marketing team we respect."
