Cape Town's creative talent has been recognised by a leading international awards organisation. The John Caples Awards in New York, founded in 1978 by direct marketing pioneer, Andi Emerson, to honour the acclaimed copywriter, John Caples, has asked Draftfcb Cape Town executive creative director, Glynn Venter, to sit on its organising committee for the 2010 awards.
The invitation comes after Venter won his stripes after judging for the awards for two years. His responsibilities as Caples Chair: South Africa will be to identify and recruit judges locally, as well as assisting with the organisation of the judging process and award event.
With international chairs in 50 countries, these awards are judged by more than 100 active, senior-level, international creative professionals. Over 200 creatives and marketers from around the world attend the annual dinner and presentation.
Venter is delighted and honoured with the appointment saying that it highlights the strength of the South African creative industry, and is specifically a feather in the cap of the Cape Town creative community.
