The Loerie Awards: 17 finalists, Saturday night's imaging, and two TV commercials

The Loerie Awards are a big deal for Wicked Pixels this year. You may not care about their record number of 17 finalists. You may not have seen the Ego-bruising TV spots they co-created, but one thing you can be sure of; you're not going to miss their epic, jaw-dropping visuals that deliver the Loerie Award winners to you live on Saturday night at the Good Hope Centre.
THE LOERIE AWARDS EVENT

The Loerie Awards, South Africa's premier advertising awards once again selected Wicked Pixels to create the imaging package and title sequences for the sold out show on Saturday night.

The studio began work six months ago, conceptualising and then designing the title sequences for each category. Working closely with H-Factor and the Loerie Awards Committee, Wicked wanted to create visuals with a bold sense of scale and depth. “We were all after something unique and innovative,” says Andrew Shaw of Wicked Pixels, who directed the project. “The Loeries is the event of the year, and we went all out last year for the landmark 30th event. So this year we wanted to up it even more, and our teams have spent an insane amount of time putting it all together to hopefully make Saturday night's experience the best yet.” Please help spread the word: Wicked Pixels created the imaging for Saturday night.

17 FINALISTS

But Wicked Pixels won't be attending the awards just to sit and view their own creation. The last year has seen them produce some great work on brands like The Design Indaba, Parmalat, Nissan and Hyundai. And as a production company with one of the highest number of finalists, an incredible 17, they will be sitting there biting their nails with the rest of us.

VIRAL AND TV SPOTS

And still on the Loeries, MetropolitanRepublic commissioned Wicked Pixels to co-produce the fun, somewhat disturbing TV and viral campaign for the Loerie Awards. The Ego characters, which form the core of the entire Loeries campaign this year, feature in the spots. First animated and then integrated in the live action by the CG artists at Wicked Pixels. The end result? Well, let your ego be the judge by clicking here to view spot 1 [5MB] and spot 2 [12MB].

COOL STUFF NOT TO BE MISSED

And as if that hasn't been enough on their plate, Wicked are due to launch their amazing new website next week. The site was a collaboration between Wicked Pixels and Gloo Design Agency (who previously teamed up in 2007 to win Gold at the Loeries for their animation work on agency Fox P2's imaging). With two of the most awarded guys in town getting together, the work is truly groundbreaking. To be the first to catch a sneak preview, go to www.wickedpixels.com.

And lastly, the new ‘Automatic' music video for pop rock sensation, Tokio Hotel, directed by Craig Wessels and produced by Wicked Pixels can be viewed by switching your decoder channel to MTV. If you haven't seen it yet, you really should, it has been labeled by MTV as “raising the bar”. Check out the link to the Press Release here.

Good luck to all Finalists and see you at the Loeries. Wicked.
