Living brands agency Stimulii have handpicked some of South Africa's top creative talent in their latest product placement deal, Vodacom ThumbWars, which will be aired in association with Samsung on SABC 2 on 4 June.
“The team's combined experience made them the clear choice for Vodacom ThumbWars,” Grazyna Koscielska director and co-founder of Stimulii said. “Vodacom ThumbWars in its reality game show format marks a significant departure from the more traditional product placement environment. We have the opportunity to create great television that seamlessly integrates the use of product to move the action forward. To achieve this we have brought onboard some of South Africa's best talent.”
The production team made up of Fuel Media and post-production house Kilt A Pixel will add a wealth of experience to this exciting reality TV game show. While fans of South African R&B artist Loyiso Bala will be delighted to hear that the lyrical maestro together with his producer, Crighton Goodwill, will be compiling the theme music for the show.
Director of Fuel Media, Donald Clarke, has more than 10-years TV experience under his belt. Better known for his work on Survivor South Africa, Clarke has recently formed Fuel Media with partners Paul Llewellyn and Moyikwa Sisulu. Globally their director of photography, Michael Yelsith, has been nominated for an Emmy for his work on the Amazing Race.
Graeme Moon founder of Kilt A Pixel has been appointed as the Creative Director of Vodacom ThumbWars. Moon, who has a long-standing relationship with Stimulii, has worked with them on other exciting projects, including the Clover Spread the Love campaign, which featured the likes of Miriam Makeba, Helen Suzman, Karen Zoid and Ferial Haffajee. The TV ads, which won the audience choice award, according to independent research conducted by Millward Brown, were shot in 45 minutes or less over a period of four and a half days by Kilt A Pixel.
Koscielska and Moon, who founded Stimulii just over eight-years-ago, are the creators and executive producers of Vodacom ThumbWars. Initially it will be aired in South Africa, but plans are already afoot to develop the concept in other regions in Africa and abroad.
Vodacom ThumbWars will air during primetime on SABC 2 on 4 June until 6 August 2009. Each week four age-diverse teams will travel across South Africa to unique destinations as the clock ticks down from a grand prize of R1 million. Contestants will have to rely on their wits and their thumbs, as they get ready to wage war.
