D&AD awarded Wicked Pixels are working hard to build on their reputation as specialists in producing commercials that require the integration of live action with animation. This effort led to Wicked's Craig Wessels (MTN Stickies, Nissan Roadsurfer, Parmalat Pure Joy) being selected to direct the latest Hyundai spot, on behalf of The Jupiter Drawing Room CT (creative team of Andrew Lang and James Armstrong).

Andrew Lang, Creative Group Head at Jupiter CT comments on the production, “Our idea was to knock a stuntman over with water. We were expecting a few buckets of water and a whole lot of CGI in post. Instead, Craig arrived with a 20 foot high special effects rig and tons of water, all shot in camera. Could only happen with Wicked. It's always awesome working with them.”

The water FX took time to research and develop, but ultimately Wicked was after 100% realism and despite being a CGI junkie, Craig brought in a few of the experienced ‘in camera' special FX experts; MXFX, Stunt Network and precision driving team, The Good Guys. Nevertheless, Wicked still spent about two weeks in animation and post to complete and craft the spot.

The music and sound design was courtesy of Rob Brinkworth at Resonate Audio, an experienced and highly creative young composer and sound designer now working out of Cape Town (previously Joburg).
