Draftfcb South Africa creative director honoured at Pendoring

The Legend Award is given to a person who has made a real impact on the advertising landscape and has created a legacy that cannot be equalled easily. De Villiers is well known for the success that he has attained with, among others, the Klipdrift and Vodacom campaigns. This is only the second time in the Pendorings' 14-year history that the Legend Award has been made.

Commenting on the accolade, group executive creative director, Ashley Bacon, said it was apt recognition for someone who had contributed so much to - not just the creative development of the industry in South Africa - but to the industry as a whole. “We are truly honoured to have you as a colleague, Francois,” he said.

Draftfcb Cape Town managing director, Brian Stockdale, added: “This is a tremendous accolade, and one that is truly deserved. Francois is a legend in his own lifetime, and we are thrilled that he is part of our team.”

In addition to De Villiers' achievement, the Draftfcb group performed well at the awards ceremony with four gold Pendorings and two silvers. In addition, an ad by Draftfcb Johannesburg for client Toyota South Africa - Hilux ‘Boer' - was crowned with the highly sought-after People's Choice Award.
