Wicked Pixels, unquestionably South Africa's most awarded animation production studio, believes that advertising and animation have become one, and that, from here on the two will be virtually inseparable.
Almost every commercial on our screens today contains some form of animation, often unnoticed, and Wicked is loving it, continuing to push the boundaries. They said they would bring you images of their Loeries graphics, and here they are, plus the latest in their self-confessed revolution.

New Releases
On the frontline, Wicked recently had a lot of fun on some intensive animation and visual effects work on the latest TV offering from Montecasino, via agency MetropolitanRepublic (DOP Rob Malpage, edited by James Hosking at Left and VFX by Animation Director Andrew Shaw of Wicked Pixels). Staying true to the very theatrical inspired brief, an array of performers were cast, from transvestites to stilt walkers, all shot individually on green/black screen and then comped into hyper-real CG environments. The end result is a carefully crafted, entertaining visual experience, all set to a remixed soundtrack (Audio Militia) of Shirley Bassey's original track, “Big Spender”. To check it out, click here.
On air branding has just been completed on Debora Patta's hard-hitting 3rd Degree current affairs show on e.tv. Her brief to Wicked was to update and refresh the imaging without too radical a change. Whilst on the broadcast side, don't forget to register for Promax/BDA Africa '08 in October.
Other new work on our screens include a 3D title sequence and camera tracking for the fun and quirky Kia “Multitasking” commercial, for Egg Films Director, Jason Fialkov via agency Singh&Sons. More appetising animation sequences for two Dentyne stings out of Ogilvy, as well as a couple of slick motion graphic spots for BBDO's client, Capitec Bank.
