Says The Jupiter Drawing Room CT producer Ruth De Vantier Chowles, "The brief was to advertise the launch of the 'new look' of the
Getaway magazine, as well as provide a visual device for monthly promotion of the latest issue, by creating a unique, whimsical animated short. Art director, Andrew Lang and copywriter, Peri van Papendorp decided on the concept of an animated origami TVC created not from your typical white paper but from the pages of a
Getaway magazine. The commercial would see original origami animals coming alive and start a chase between a lioness and an impala, with the winner being a crafty crocodile."
The Jupiter Drawing Room CT turned to Masters & Savant Worldwide Cape Town to bring the original concept to life.
Says Masters & Savant Worldwide CT Creative Director Reto Reolon, "Jupiter Cape Town's concept is wonderful in that it truly demonstrates the strength animation and design bring to commercials. Paper animals chasing each other over a magazine cover is pure immersive fun.
"The animals are folded out of pages from the magazine itself, and unfold into a centre page spread in the end, working as a visual metaphor for the experience and excitement to be found on every page of
Getaway," concludes Reolon.
