With 13 finalists, FCB Cape Town is, for the second year in a row, the agency with the most Pendoring finalists. Net#work, after a few 'dry' Pendoring years, has 11 finalists followed by FCB Johannesburg with 4.
Other agencies with finalists are : Grey Worldwide, Ogilvy & Mather Rightford Searle-Tripp & Makin (O&M) and TBWA Gavin Reddy, each with two finalists and Bester Burke, FireFly Concepts, HarrisonHuman Bates, Purple Berry Communications and King James with one each.
Pendoring received a total of 303 entries this year from 50 advertising agencies, internal marketing departments and training institutions.
As previously, radio was the most popular medium with 47 entries and the outdoor/poster category has the second spot with 46 entries. Campaigns (above and under the line) had 30 contenders and the new category, Truly South African, received 16 entries.
The judges were impressed with the standard of the outdoor, radio and student categories, but 'New Media' (especially the websites) did not measure up to expectations and there are no finalists in this category. In the category New Media – advertising only one entry (from HarrisonHuman Bates) made it as finalist. The jingle category has two finalists.
All the finalists in the two student categories are from AAA School of Advertising (Johannesburg and Cape Town) .
The complete list of finalists can be viewed on www.pendoring.mweb.co.za.
This year's Pendoring Award winners will be announced at a gala event on 5 September at Vodaworld in Midrand.
