“When D&AD rang me about judging this category, they said: ‘Don't worry. It won't take more than a day.' And it's true. Writing for Advertising tends to attract fewer entries than, say, TV & Cinema or Posters. I think that's a bit of a shame,” said Riley.

“So my hope would be that this year we can find a good selection of well-written ads and award a Pencil or two. And that might inspire people to use words as well as pictures when they're creating ads in future. So when D&AD ring up next year's foreman, they'll be able to say: ‘Sorry. You're going to have to put a line through the entire week.'
