Johannesburg-based agency, Volcano, has won the AdReview New Business Award 2014. This is the first time that a new business category has featured in the popular AdReview awards, with Volcano up against agencies Home of the Brave, MetropolitanRepublic, Joe Public and Ireland/Davenport. AdReview established the shortlist based on the number and quality of new business accounts won during the past year.
The win comes hot on the heels of a stellar 2013 for Volcano, which saw the agency take part in 28 pitches, winning 25 of them. New business wins include a long-term project to reposition Consol Glass within the main market segment. In addition, Volcano took top honours in a 40-way pitch, winning the CSIR account.
"Being recgonised for our always-hungry approach to new business is a real honour," says Paul Jackson, Managing Director of Volcano, now an integral below-the-line arm of Grey Africa. "We are thrilled that the award coincided with what is undoubtedly the biggest news we have shared in our 20-year history, and will do a lot to maintain confidence in our ability and entrepreneurial spirit as an agency."
The rebranding of Volcano into Grey Africa earlier this month is a fresh victory for the independent agency, who will continue to service their already impressive client base, only now with the added clout and credibility that comes with being a part of the world's most creative agency.
