Strong creative representation on Pendoring panel

Henk Nieuwenhuysen, copy director at Ogilvy, The Netherlands, has been appointed as the international judge by Ogilvy for the 2006 Pendoring awards for excellence in Afrikaans advertising, while the local panel represents a mix of top creatives in the advertising world in combination with literary experts of the Afrikaans language and representatives from the marketing industry.

The panel further consists of:

  • Pepe Marais, creative director at Joe Public;
  • Roela Hattingh of the Vega School of Advertising;
  • Leon Jacobs of Saatchi & Saatchi;
  • Thebe Ikalafeng of Brand Leadership;
  • Kagiso Musi from Café;
  • Anne Grobler, marketing manager of OUTsurance;
  • Linette Retief, copywriter;
  • Theo Ferreira of Hunt Lascaris;
  • Heindrich Wyngaard, journalist from Rapport;
  • Konstant van Huyssteen van Ogilvy Johannesburg;
  • Riana Scheepers, award winning author and language fundi; and
  • Schalk van der Merwe of FCB in Cape Town.

The Copywriter's Forum has described the panel as "an excellent combination of the right elements and experience. We are very satisfied with the quality of the panel and the high level of proven knowledge as represented by the members."

The judging process will take place 21 - 23 July 2006 in Johannesburg, after which the finalists will be made known. The winners will be announced at a gala function on 1 September at VodaWorld in Midrand.
