Golden Planes has added Sheilla Kubheka and Porteus Xandau to their burgeoning stable of directors. Both celebrated early in their careers for outstanding achievements, Kubheka and Xandau bring distinct talent and style to the production house.
Sheilla Kubheka
Porteus Xandau
Kubheka, the first female, black commercials director within the SA commercials industry and one of the first within the SA film industry, is a trailblazer capable of tackling a challenging script and a trying topic as easily as she can take the reins and guide forward more mainstream projects. Her work includes the "Real Men Don't Rape" advertisements for POWA, a gripping expose on female circumcision that aired at the Zanzibar Film Festival, as well as Koo, Radox, Lucky Star and SABC commercials. Kubheka was shortlisted in the "Best New Director" category at Cannes in 2006, and has a wealth of experience working with top class agencies in South Africa.
Xandau, a versatile director who pulls from his international acting and playwright experience to understand all angles of a production, has helmed feature films, music videos, commercials and theatre performances. In 2006 he was awarded the prestigious Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) Award for his debut feature film "Capitalist Pigs" and his role in the play "Birds' Eye view"; and "Black Blood", his most recent feature film, is set to be released in 2012.
Kubheka and Xandau join acclaimed directors Joel Peissig and Sven Harding and the hot young talent Kyle Lewis in bolstering the Golden Planes director portfolio.
