Jacaranda 94.2 has once again sealed the deal by being voted Best Radio Station by Pretoria News readers for the second consecutive year. This follows hot on the heels of recent accolades being awarded to the station's Maurice Carpede and Trevor Cramer for Most Popular Radio Personality and Best Radio Sports Insert respectively.
Jacaranda 94.2 Programme Manager Lloyd Madurai says, “We're ecstatic about the achievement, as it affirms that we are indeed on the ball in terms of resonance with our listeners by providing them with relevant content that is well supported by our on-air team.
“The regular feedback we receive from our Pretoria listeners, coupled with their great rapport with our presenters makes us even more determined to cultivate this relationship through our multimedia strategy.
“By staging more events in Pretoria, providing relevant content through Podcasts and viral marketing, and remaining on the same level, we're partnering with our listeners and taking the station from good to great!” he enthuses.
Pretoria is well known for its vast residential developments and boasts the highest concentration of Internet connectivity, making the market highly influential when it comes to purchasing power.
In an effort to provide its Pretoria listeners with more of what they want, Jacaranda 94.2 Marketing Manager Lulu Ndevu reports that the station recently conducted focus group research within the region, to garner what it is they want from their station.
This research not only provided the programming team with valuable insight into listeners' expectations of the station, it also outlined beyond any doubt that Pretoria listeners are an incredibly loyal group who take proactive ‘ownership' of the station.
One of the biggest findings was the increasing popularity of the Jacaranda 94.2's brand in the region. Ndevu explains, “Through the use of incredibly successful events such as the Jacaranda 94.2 Deuriemikke Karnaval, our annual Christmas Carol celebrations and regular Street Buster activations, we're working hard to ensure we remain closely connected to our loyal Pretoria listeners, while cementing our footprint in other provinces."
Never happy resting on its laurels, Ndevu reveals that cementing its visibility in Pretoria is an ongoing project. “We have, therefore renewed new media platforms. Through the use of billboards and supplements within their local newspapers, we're putting structures in place to ensure Jacaranda 94.2 continuously provides them with just what they need,” adds Ndevu.
