Digital brand agency, Hello Computer was rewarded for taking the digital design arena to new heights by scooping four silver awards at the Construction New Media Awards.
Now in its eighth year, these Awards reward both local as well as offshore professional and student talent covering four categories; online, offline, motion graphics and innovation.
Hello Computer received awards in the following categories for these campaigns:
A: Online Category - Jack Daniels “Crack Jack's Safe”
D: Offline Category - Vodacom's CDRom of press exposure archive
“It has become evident that brands have to interact with their customers on a more personal level through digital avenues as well as maximise their awareness,” says Benon Czornij, founding member and technical director of Hello Computer.
“Our role as an interactive digital agency is to create and execute campaigns in digital environments that facilitate interaction between leading, forward-thinking brands and their audiences.”
Commenting on the company's award for Online Category at the Construction Awards - Jack Daniels, he says that constantly playing in an unchartered frontier yet knowing that brands are connectors, Hello Computer developed a challenging, engaging game for Jack Daniels “Crack Jack's Safe”. “We focussed on reinforcing the rich history of Jack Daniels whilst increasing traffic and user registration on their site,” Czornij says.
The second of the four awards was due to the agency's superior design capabilities and creative finishings in the website development for Moonlighting Films, which has built an international reputation for excellence having produced over 900 commercials . “We designed a unique navigation to reflect the company's creative approach to the production journey, demonstrating their impressive portfolio and insight into a wealth of locations open to foreign decision makers,” Czornij says.
“To illustrate this, our solution built upon a robust content management system and was executed using innovative Flash technologies to create a visually rich representation of the business. Paper vision was chosen to create a 3D space and minimise bandwidth - to give the user a rich flash experience with a minimal download time”, explains creative director of this interactive agency, Mark Tomlinson. For its third award, Hello Computer harnessed the power of social networking. Challenged with aggregating a community around a musician, the agency was tasked to create a powerful brand impression of the Dirty Skirts via its website in terms of both its sonic and visual identity.
We created the website to offer directions to the band's key propositions: album sales, MySpace presence, Facebook group and an email facility for booking enquiries,” commented David Moffat, marketing director of Hello.
Hello's last silver award was for the work done on Vodacom's press exposure archive on CD ROM that hosts all Vodacom's commercials and printed press articles since 1990. ”Using the latest technology, we kept in mind our key objective of providing an easy to use, intuitive and uncluttered piece of nostalgia,” says Tomlinson.
