    Nigerian Fundis visit SA

Nine Nigerian travel trade representatives are currently spending a 10-day holiday in South Africa, courtesy of SA Tourism (SAT). The travel consultants who left Lagos on Tuesday night, 1 March 2011, are winners of SAT's six-module online travel expert programme also known as Fundi.

The Fundi programme aims to transform SA Tourism trade partners and travel consultants into travel information specialists concerning the country. The Nigerian travel consultants have thus become "Fundis".

According to SA Tourism Africa regional director, Phumi Dhlomo, "the Fundi programme is an initiative of imparting trade partners and travel consultants with a broad distinct knowledge of South Africa which provides all relevant travel information to better sell destination SA."

"There is also a unique leverage of increased productivity in dealing with clients without a waste of time on research and planning as a result of being versed in the destination," Dhlomo stated.

Earlier in 2010 between January and November, SA Tourism tourists' arrivals statistics shows that 42,330 Nigerians have so far visited South Africa for both leisure and business purposes.
