The state Commissioner for Information, Comrade Mohammad Garba, who said this when a delegation of the Kano regional office of Daily Trust presented a proposal to him on Triumph, added that revival of the newspaper was one of the governor's priorities.

"I would be visiting the headquarters of Triumph newspaper on Thursday to see the position of things there and afterwards we will see how Daily Trust can assist us professionally and otherwise to revive the company. Our intention is to start a weekly publication to capture the north and gradually we will see how we can capture the whole country. The offer you made is very encouraging and we are going to embrace it. As you know, Triumph used to be very effective in dissemination of information", he said.

To cement the partnership, he said he would be visiting the regional office of the Daily Trust in Kano this week.

"I will visit your Kano regional office this week in order to assess and see the equipment you have, in our determination to see that we have a very good partnership with the company especially on the revival of the Triumph newspapers," he said.

Comrade Garba, who is the immediate past president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), urged other media organisations in the country to emulate the mechanism put in place by management of Daily Trust in promoting professionalism in the media industry.

"Every state in the North should have relationship with Daily Trust, because as far as we are concerned, the paper is ours. It is the paper that is projecting the image of the North. We are happy that the paper is now one of the leading newspapers in the country. I am happy that circulation of the paper has gone beyond the North; you can find it in the South-South, in the South-East and even in the South-West. I'm really happy with the development of the paper. And again if there is one paper that is very strict to professional ethics, I think it is Daily Trust. I therefore commend the management and staff of the organisation," he said.
