Passport to Adventure has been billed as the longest running performance in the Disney on Ice franchise and we have been lucky enough to have it visit our shores twice. I am fortunate that I have two younger sisters to take with me, but after seeing the performance twice, I would definitely go on my own. If you have no children or siblings - find cousins, nieces, nephews, your bosses children or just go on your own.
For those of you who grew up singing songs from the Lion King and The Little Mermaid, it is like stepping back into your child-like imagination and reminiscing those days. For parents taking their youngsters, to watch the awe and fascination on your little one's face as Goofy comes flying across the ice is a priceless experience.
The beauty of it is that, although the children sing the songs and admire the colours and their favourite characters right there before them, it is still an incredibly well choreographed and skilled performance that adults will undoubtedly enjoy as well.
We went with children of different ages and my feedback would be that between 4-10 is the ideal age for kids to really enjoy the show (21 - 50 are good ages to go as well). I saw many adults there with no children and I began wondering who was having a better time, the adults or the kids.
A fair warning to all parents, the merchandise is expensive. Have something beforehand and try to keep the kids away from the ever-tempting Disney goods. If that doesn't seem possible, be sure to take cash as there are no card facilities when paying.
The show is running until Sunday, 7 July. The shows are at 11am, 3pm and 7pm. Each show is about 105 min, so I would recommend taking the youngsters to the earlier shows as the evening show can be a bit late. The tickets are from R195 - R300, depending on where you're sitting. However, it is most definitely worth every cent and a memory you and your children will have forever.
