"If I win, my intention is to donate the prize money to critical socio-economic causes," says Saville. "Equal Education, which fights for equal and quality education for all, is one of the organisations to which I pledge US$50 000 of the prize money."
Saville has pledged the other $50 000 of the prize money to help fund the launch of a Women in Leadership Centre at the Gordon Institute of Business Science. The centre will be at the forefront of thought leadership, dialogue and action, helping develop progressive businesses and making a contribution to society.
A win for Saville would mean a win for South Africa. But even more than that, it would raise a substantial sum of money for two very worthy causes.
This round of the competition is based on votes - the ten professors with the highest number of votes will go through to the next round. A South African on this list would send an incredible message to the world about our country, our universities and our people, and will add to the message that South Africa has the ability to deliver world class outputs.
