New packages are now available on the
Loeries website for
Creative Week. There are two-night-ticket packages for The 35th Annual Loerie Awards, supplementing the full Creative Week packages. Tickets to the International Seminar of Creativity can also be booked separately now.

Loerie entries are now open, and those that get their work in by 15 April 2013; get 10% off their entry fee. The final deadline for entries is 31 May and agencies or marketers throughout Africa and the Middle East can enter their work.

Loerie Awards (this year just called "The Loeries") open for entries this week. The entry deadline, whilst not yet publicised, will be fairly generous so there is still time to get something ready to take some metal on the night.

Following on its release of the
Loeries official rankings for
brands and agencies at the end of October, the awards have released all the official rankings for 2012. New additions this year include a top ten ranking for the rest of Africa & the Middle East category, for countries from outside of South Africa and a ranking for educational institutions.

[Walter Wafula] MetropolitanRepublic, a newcomer in Uganda's advertising industry became the first local agency to win an award at this year's Loeries in September. MetropolitanRepublic won bronze for their 2012 MTN Uganda campaign, titled David Dumba, which was aimed at promoting SIM card registration in the country. Alex Rukundo, the managing director MRU speaks about the award and the value that intimacy brings to advertising business.

This year saw the introduction of a new category at The Loerie Awards - for the Rest of Africa and the Middle East, sponsored by the
Mail & Guardian. The category gave non-South African work a chance to shine and the audience saw two Gold Loeries awarded, as well as three Silver statues and seven Bronzes.
